Darmstadt, DE · Full-time · €45,000 – €55,000

About this role

Focused Energy is a pioneering fusion energy startup dedicated to delivering unlimited, clean energy using laser-induced inertial fusion. As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems across innovative projects. This position suits early-career engineers eager to work with advanced experimental hardware.

You will assist in designing mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, and support layouts for laboratory equipment integration. Daily tasks include prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and managing design files in the Vault system. You will also help with engineering calculations for structures, thermal loads, and tolerances.

Collaborate closely with senior engineers on core design tasks and documentation. Work alongside electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers during system integration and design reviews. Participate in multidisciplinary projects within a dynamic startup environment focused on sustainable energy.

Gain hands-on experience building experimental systems and contributing to complex engineering challenges. Develop critical skills in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and laboratory infrastructure. Learn processes that underpin the development of cutting-edge fusion power generation technology.
