Parsons seeks a talented Airfield Traffic Systems Construction Technician for the FAA Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5), a $1.8+ billion effort supporting the National Airspace. Perform installation of navigational aids, communications systems, and weather monitoring equipment on airfields across the US. Join a team of 500+ staff delivering site selection, engineering, construction, and technical services nationwide.

Work as part of a construction and installation crew installing new or upgrading existing equipment and systems such as navigational aids, air traffic telecommunications, and weather monitoring. Complete projects on airports and remote facilities in various environments, including active airfields. Involves civil construction tasks like excavation, concrete foundations, trenching, duct bank installation, and minor grading.

Support teammates with construction of equipment shelters, electrical racks, pulling power and control cables, and exothermic welding for grounding. Operate in FAA's nine regions, Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Technical Center in New Jersey, and US territories. Peak staff exceeds 650, including subcontractors for construction work.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience operating heavy equipment such as small excavators, skid loaders, personnel lifts
  • Experience with duct banks, manholes, steel racks, towers and poles, surveying, concrete work, excavation equipment operations, and airfield systems
  • Familiar with construction quality and safety best practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement project drawings, specifications, and client orders and standards
  • Experience with the use of basic electrical test equipment and concrete quality control requirements
  • 100% travel required throughout the United States, its territories and possessions
  • Ability to meet customer security requirements including federal background check
  • Ability to pass fleet driver motor vehicle history check and DOT physical requirements

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a construction and installation crew installing new or upgrading existing navigational aids, air traffic telecommunications systems, and weather monitoring equipment
  • Complete projects on airports and at remote facilities in various environments such as on active airfields
  • Perform civil construction tasks such as excavation, installation, and finishing of small to medium sized concrete foundations
  • Conduct trenching and duct bank installation, minor grading and civil site preparation tasks
  • Support teammates with construction and installation of equipment shelters, electrical racks and equipment
  • Pull and connect power and control cables, perform exothermic welding for grounding and bonding of systems
